An editor that gets out of your way

Write with headings, bold, italic, underline and strikethrough, colour or highlight text, change the font size, and add bullet, numbered and check lists. Insert links, code blocks with syntax highlighting, tables and resizable images. Type a slash to open the command menu and format without leaving the keyboard.

There is no learning curve and no formatting bar you have to hunt through. Start typing and the note is already saved; reach for a heading, a checklist or a table only when the thought needs one. Everything is keyboard-first, so a shopping list takes five seconds and a meeting summary reads like a finished document.

Folders and tags that match how you think

Sort notes into nested folders, drag them to reorder or move, pin the notes you use most and label anything with tags or a colour. Full-text search looks through every note as you type, and one click on a tag or folder narrows the list.

Folders can hold folders, so a single "Work" folder can quietly grow into clients, projects and meetings without ever feeling deep. Tags cut across that structure for the things a tree cannot express, like everything marked urgent or everything about one trip. Colours make the folders you use daily recognisable at a glance, and pinning keeps the two or three notes you live in at the top of the list.

Find any note in the time it takes to type

Search reads the title and the whole body of every note, and the list narrows with every letter, so you never have to remember where you filed something.

Combine it with a folder or a tag and you have a filter: open the Recipes folder, type "soup", and you are looking at the three notes you meant. Nothing is ever more than a few keystrokes away, whether you have thirty notes or three thousand.

Every version kept, nothing lost by accident

Every edit is kept as a snapshot you can preview and restore. Deleted notes go to the trash first, so a wrong click is never final. If two devices save at once, MyNout shows both versions and lets you choose.

MyNout snapshots a note before each change, so you can look back at what it said this morning and put that version back with one click. Deleted notes wait in the trash instead of disappearing, and if two devices save at the same moment you are shown both versions rather than silently losing one.

Copy a note as Markdown, export it as a Markdown, plain-text or PDF file, print it, or download all of your notes, folders and tags in one file. Import Markdown files back at any time. Your notes are never locked in.

Copy a note as Markdown into any other editor, export it as a .md, .txt or PDF file, print it, or download everything — notes, folders and tags — as a single file you can keep as a backup. The plain-text file keeps the note’s shape: its lines, bullet points, numbered steps and ticked tasks. Import works the other way, so notes from another app come across with their formatting intact. There is no proprietary format and no export fee.

An account you actually control

Sign in with your e-mail address, protect your account with two-factor authentication and backup codes, review and sign out of active sessions, change your e-mail or password, lock individual notes with a PIN and, if you want, encrypt notes end-to-end. Choose a light, dark or system theme and any of 38 languages.

Turn on two-factor authentication with any authenticator app, keep the backup codes, and see every device that is signed in, with the address it signed in from and the one it uses now. Encrypt notes end-to-end with a passphrase only you know, change your e-mail or password whenever you like, lock individual notes behind a PIN, and delete the whole account — with every note in it — in a single step.
